Jacqueline Kerner, PsyD
Jacqueline has worked with clients struggling with varying degrees of mental health issues. She specializes in trauma & the various coexisting conditions that tend to coincide with it, including but not limited to domestic violence, depression, anxiety, gender identity issues, sexuality, self-harm, suicidality, anger and aggression, familial and relationship issues, and substance use. Separately, she specializes in treating anxiety & depression, all while working closely with the LGBTQ+ community.
My education
I received my PsyD (Doctor of Psychology) at Nova Southeastern University.
What I specialize in
I specialize in helping members who experience anxiety, depression, PTSD, and trauma.
My clinical approaches
My clinical approaches include Dialectical Behavioral (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, Trauma Focused, Interpersonal, Strength-Based, Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), and Acceptance & Commitment (ACT).
A bit about my approach to therapy
My approach has always been one of total acceptance and lack of judgment. Working in jail has heightened my ability to treat all patients with respect and empathy, no matter where they are in their lives. This approach, along with creating a safe space, has been successful in assisting clients to develop healthy coping skills to deal with their problems.
What you can expect from our first session
My goal is to offer a safe environment for patients to begin the process of self-reflection and positive personal growth. I know that trauma, depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues play a big role in creating and sustaining challenges in life and often deter people from a path of optimal functioning.
What I do for fun
I love to spend time with my two sons. I foster dogs and enjoy riding my bike and watching movies!
