Frequently asked questions
What is primary care?
Primary care refers to the first point of contact for your healthcare needs. It involves general medical care provided by primary care physicians who address various health concerns, manage chronic conditions, and provide preventive care.
Why is a membership-based primary care model better?
A membership-based primary care model offers numerous advantages. It provides personalized attention, longer appointment times for thorough discussions, enhanced continuity of care, and a focus on preventive medicine. This model ensures a stronger doctor-patient relationship and a proactive approach to your health.
What are the benefits of preventative medicine?
Preventative medicine focuses on avoiding or minimizing the impact of potential health issues. By emphasizing preventive care, you can detect health problems early, receive timely interventions, and lead healthier lives. Preventative medicine aims to reduce the occurrence of illnesses, improve overall well-being, and lower healthcare costs in the long run.
What can I expect during longer appointments?
Longer appointments allow ample time for comprehensive discussions about your health concerns. Your primary care physician can gather a detailed medical history, thoroughly address your questions, and conduct a more in-depth examination. Longer appointments facilitate a deeper understanding of your health and ensure that your needs are met with personalized care.
What are the advantages of virtual follow-up appointments?
Virtual follow-up appointments provide flexibility and accessibility. By utilizing secure telemedicine technology, you can have consultations with your primary care physician from the comfort of your own home. Virtual visits allow for ongoing care, prescription refills, and discussions about your health without the need for in-person visits, saving you time and effort.
How do I book an appointment?
Booking an appointment is quick and easy. Click the "Book Your Appointment Today" button on our website's homepage or log into your patient portal to book an appointment.
How often should I have an annual wellness exam?
Annual wellness exams are recommended for adults, regardless of age or health status. Regular check-ups help detect potential health issues early, update vaccinations, and discuss preventive measures. However, the frequency may vary based on individual health needs. Your primary care physician can guide the ideal interval for your specific situation.
Does insurance cover primary care?
Most health insurance plans cover primary care services, including annual wellness exams and preventive care. It is advisable to check with your insurance provider to understand your specific coverage details and any potential copayments or deductibles. If you have any questions, contact our insurance navigator.
Can I choose my primary care physician?
Yes, you have the freedom to choose a primary care physician who best suits your needs. We encourage you to consider our experienced primary care physicians dedicated to providing comprehensive and personalized care to meet your healthcare goals.
What if I need to cancel my primary care appointment?
We request that patients who want to cancel or reschedule their appointments with our physicians notify our team at least 24 hours before the appointment time. If you cannot make this appointment, please call our office to avoid cancellation fees. If you cancel within 24 hours of your appointment, please note that you will be charged a $50 fee.
Wellness appointments, including but not limited to acupuncture, nutritional counseling, talk therapy, and physical therapy, have a strict no-show, cancelation, reschedule, and late policy. Patients are required to cancel or reschedule any wellness appointments at least 24 hours in advance. Any appointments that are canceled or rescheduled within 24 hours of the appointment will be charged for the full price of that consultation. This policy includes both in-person and virtual visits. If a patient is a no-show for a Wellness Practitioner appointment, the patient will be charged for the full price of that consultation. Patients who arrive late to their appointment time will have less time with the practitioner. It is at the discretion of the Wellness Practitioner to decide if a new appointment will need to be booked and may incur additional fees.
What is your late arrival policy?
We understand that things happen and can cause a delay in arriving for your appointment. To still provide exceptional service to all of our patients, late arrivals will be treated based on appointment type and time of arrival.
If a patient is 10 minutes late for a 20-minute appointment, they will need to reschedule their appointment.
If the patient is more than 20 minutes late for a 40-minute appointment, the patient’s appointment will switch from a physical or PAP to a focused medical visit.
